Your Questions, Answered

  • Trip pricing varies widely depending on the location, time of year, and the types of activities included. For example, a wildlife safari will generally be more expensive than a hiking trip.

As a general rule of thumb, our 2027 trips will range from approximately $650 to $950 per trip night.

Please note that travel pricing is dynamic, and trip costs may increase by approximately 10–15% year over year as hotel rates, guiding costs, transportation, park fees, and other operating expenses continue to rise.

Full pricing will always be clearly listed on each individual trip page.

  • I do not do ultra-budget trips. That means no loud, packed dorms, no bare-bones backpacker setups, and no giant tour groups.

Our trips are usually capped at 12 women max, which allows for a more personal, comfortable, and thoughtfully curated experience.

In terms of style, I take pride in delivering the Adventuristas magic formula: cozy, boutique, chic, comfortable, full of character, and centered around great food.

I do not typically book massive tourist hotels where buses are unloading out front. The places I choose are often smaller, family-run, charming, and sometimes still operate a little old-school — the kind of places where you may need to actually pick up the phone or email the manager directly. But they absolutely must have stellar, rave reviews!

  • We take a small deposit to hold your spot, usually around 10% of the total trip cost.

The remaining balance is spread out into as many payments as reasonably possible, with the final payment typically due 90 days before the trip. If you are booking a last-minute trip, your deposit and final payment may be due very close together, or even all at once. If you are booking far in advance, your payments may be spread out over many months — sometimes across as many as 10 payments.

  • Not all of our trips are hiking-focused. Some itineraries are centered more around wildlife watching, kayaking, horseback riding, or other active experiences.

That said, many of our trips are built around iconic hiking trails such as the Salkantay Trek or the Tour du Mont Blanc. For those trips, yes — a strong level of hiking fitness is required. Please make sure you are fit for the demands of the itinerary and do plenty of training hikes well before the trip.

  • Trips include an Adventurista Host plus a locally certified mountain guide or other professional local guides with deep knowledge of the area, depending on the activity and destination.

The hosts job is to look after the group experience, and the qualified local guides lead or support the adventure itself.

When necessary, there may be multiple guides to make sure the trip runs smoothly and everyone is well supported.

The type and level of guiding will be described in the trip details

  • We understand that life happens. If you can no longer make a trip, you are welcome to post your spot in the Adventuristas Facebook and WhatsApp communities. If another Adventurista takes your place, you will be refunded all payments made.

Please note that if I have already purchased permits or passes tied to your name or passport number, I will not be able to replace your spot.

The trip description will always indicate if this applies.

A good example is Machu Picchu, where entry permits are linked to your passport number and are non-refundable and non-transferable once assigned, but this may be applicable to other trips.

Travel insurance with medical evacuation and repatriation is required for every guest.
